Morning Pages, Brian Tracy and an Angel

Self

It’s crazy how easy it is to meet new people. What’s crazier is how you feel connected to them even though they’re basically strangers.

I met up with a friend who I haven’t seen for almost a year and we talked about books, movies, travelling and the future. The future is a topic I often avoid because, there’s really nothing I can talk about it, especially mine. He shared the Morning Pages with me, something I haven’t started working on.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a journal, my goal was to write down the things I want to do and to plan my time better. I thought it was as easy as picking which journal to buy, but it isn’t.

Lately, I’ve been feeling that I’m running out of time. It’s causing me anxiety and I think I’ve become more forgetful than I normally am. This is still a quarter-life crisis, right?

They are about anything and everything that crosses your mind– and they are for your eyes only. Morning Pages provoke, clarify, comfort, cajole, prioritize and synchronize the day at hand. Do not over-think Morning Pages: just put three pages of anything on the page…and then do three more pages tomorrow.

I met this guy and he asked if we can play “20 Questions”, this got me interested because I normally ask and do this whenever I meet someone new. It started with our favourite colours, and favourite song and then he asked me what is my goal in life. And I was dumbfounded. This is what I’ve been working on for years and this stranger is asking me about it now. I gave him my answer, which is… nothing. He offered help. That’s where Brian Tracy comes in. In The Miracle of Self-Discipline he said:

  • Imagine that you had ten million dollars cash, but only ten years to live.
  • Imagine that you have no limitations. That you could wave a magic wand and have all the time and
money, all the education and experience, all the contacts you needed to achieve any goal.

These will help you figure out, “What do I really want to do with my life?”.
