Today, I announced that I’m taking a break from Mensis Liber. It has been three years, and I’ve given away more than 60 books since I started in 2011. It amazes me because I originally planned on giving away only a book a month, hence the name. I have to take a break because I want to focus on what I’m currently working on, and I want to work on other projects too. All I can say for now? A magazine, Azby Brown’s Just Enough, and the anti-library.
So, things no one tells you about being in a long-distance relationship? I wrote this a couple of nights ago when I couldn’t sleep which I’ve been experiencing a lot lately. Maybe someone told me about this, and I just forgot, but yeah,
- Expect lots of sleepless nights.
- You’re going to be alone most of the time. And it’s not a bad thing.
- In connection with no. 1, you’re going to sleep late, sleep more, and wake up later than usual.
- You’ll lose weight.
- You’ll talk about him all the time, and your friends will secretly be bored with you.
- The first few days after he leaves will be the hardest, you’ll be okay after, but you’ll still cry now and then. Especially when the internet stops working.
- When you see him, it will feel like he never left, but when you don’t, it will feel like FOREVER.
- You’ll think about him, ALL THE TIME.
- You’ll be sad and depressed, and then you’ll get a heart from him, which means you can play another round of Tsum Tsum, and you’ll be the happiest girl in the world.
- You will argue less.
- You’ll make more informed decisions. By the time he reads about your problem, you’ll have enough time to think about it and consider your options. Or, he’ll give you his own informed, unbiased opinion, a few hours later, due to the time difference.
- You can have two good mornings and two good nights. Or at least one of each. If you’re having a bad start to the day, sending him a good morning will brighten your day.
- Snapchat, Whatsapp, and e-mail are your friends.
- You’ll quote Neruda, more.
- You’ll think of creative ways to remind him you love him. Like, make him save a daily notification that pops up on his phone saying that you love him at a certain hour.
- You’ll fight less and communicate better.
- “Absence makes the heart grow fonder”? It’s like, if you love someone, set him free with the benefit of knowing, he’s still with you.
- You’ll realize, you’re not saving as much as before with your Entertainer app.
- It’s fucking hard.
- But it’s worth it.
